Dermal Fillers

Injections of Dermal Fillers are aimed to ‘fill in’ and enhance static wrinkles and reduce the depth of facial folds that are present at rest. This procedure creates a more refreshed and rejuvenated facial appearance. Deeper injections are used to add volume to facial features such as cheek augmentation and lip enhancement.

When combined with anti-wrinkle injections, lines that are both present at rest and due to muscle over activity can be better enhanced.

More About Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers for SkinDr Safvat only uses temporary dermal fillers made from Non-Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) which is a clear gel made from a purified sugar complex that occurs naturally in our skin and is absorbed safely and effectively. These dermal fillers are safe as they contain no animal proteins, allergens, or chemicals.

The procedure is done by Dr Safvat, not a nurse, in the room. We will allocate 30 minutes for the procedure. The actual injections only take a few minutes but most of this time is used for assessment, explanations, preparation, and planning. Most people return to work on the same day. The result will be immediately evident although it might take a few days to see the final result. Temporary Dermal fillers can last between six to nine months depending on the area treated, and how fast the person's body metabolizes (absorbs) the dermal filler.

A topical anaesthetic can be applied before injection for maximum comfort and the Dermal Fillers used by Dr Safvat have anaesthetic inside them which provide immediate numbness once injected. There may be minor redness, swelling, tenderness and, at times, an itching sensation in the treated area immediately after the injections. This is quite a normal response to the injection and usually disappears within a few minutes to a few days. Some areas are more prone to bruising or swelling. Applying ice to treated areas will reduce swelling. Less likely side effects are temporary pain, firmness, lumps, itching, or discoloration at the injection site.

Injections of dermal fillers are safe and effective non-surgical methods of facial rejuvenation when administered by the right practitioner. Because of their detailed and thorough knowledge of facial anatomy, muscles, and nerves, plastic surgeons are recommended for administering Dermal Fillers and anti-wrinkle injections.
